This years district 2 & 4 Camp weekend will be June 24th, 25th and 26th. It will be held at the ButtonWood Campground https://buttonwoodcamp.com/ This campground is in District 4 in a town called Mexico, PA It is right off rte 322 by Port Royal. I have temporarily reserved 10 sites. We can put one large tent per site or two small tents per site. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, water and electric. The sites are about 100 yards from the Juniata River. There is a ton of stuff there for kids and adults alike. Again we will be fishing, cooking and just relaxing. There is a pool for those who want to swim. And there is horse shoe pits. The best part is the cost. $6.00 a person per night if camping in a tent.
I have limited space for camping trailers. The length of your trailer determines the cost. Over twenty feet is in the low $40's per night. Up to twenty is mid 30's a night. If you are planning on attending and you have a camper, contact me so I can get you a definate price and maybe a better deal.
Remember, you do not have to reside in district 2 or 4 to participate in this event. We had a blast last year and this year should be even better. Bring your wife or family also (immediate family only). Last year we had a couple women and I think five kids. Please post on hear if you are attending by May 1st Because I have to confirm with the camp ground exactly how many sites we need. The PPHA will be picking up the food but as usual, if you have something you would like to share, by all means bring it along. The only thing I ask is that at least one person in the family is a PPHA member. Any questions contact DJ aka Critterslayer (D2) or Tim aka lookn4fur (D4). Thanks.....Tim
-
i'll be there but prob staying in the truck.
-
Great, had a good time last year. I hope a bunch shows up again. We should have a big and small fish prize. I will test out my one man tent again. Let me know if you need money for a space.
-
Sounds good. I will probably pay for the sites up front and just collect from you when you get there. I will keep everyone updated. I really enjoyed last year and am looking forward to this year.
-
I had a blast last year. I am sure this year will be no different
-
I'm in
-
We should have a big and small fish prize.
that would be cool. not sure what kind of water is there though.
-
Everything that is in the river. I asked that question when I went up to look at the site and they said there is definately catfish, carp, small and largemouth, rockbass and on and on. Looks like better water and cleaner area than the last place but not near as wide. I will talk to DJ im sure we can come up with something.
-
Big ben
that would be cool. not sure what kind of water is there though.
I think is is the same water as the rest of the world. Wet!! ::)
-
I was wondering mainly if it was deep or shallow.
-
Bigben
I know, just could not pass that statement up.
:o
-
On average probably 3 1/2 feet to 4 feet. Of course there are deeper holes.
-
I figured. I might head up in may and check it out for myself. ;D

fixed. ;D
-
DJ, lay off the booze buddy. ;D ;D
Joe, thats what Hern does also. Keep in mind it doesn't matter what you sleep in it will still be six bucks per person per night.
-
I'm pretty sure you guys are gonna have a good time.... LOL!!
-
Renny, your more than welcome to come down and cook up some of those cat backstraps. ;D ;D Heck you get Hern juiced up and he may offer you the other side of the mattress. :o
-
I was wonderin is there juice allowed at this campground?
-
I would love to but I don't dare. I'm scheduled to work and I am already burning vacation to attend the trapping convention. Plus my ol' lady would kill me as she is due to freshen early July......
Hern snores.
-
I don't know what exactly were looking at for food on sat afternoon/night but I will volunteer to provide and smoke a turkey or a few chickens. these suckers are extremely good.
-
I'll make a churn of homemade ice cream for desert, not sure what flavor yet.
-
I'll bring some juice ;)
-
juice is allowed...would we hold this event at a campground if we were not allowed to have juice? no...don't be silly...
I'll do the french fries again...might look into some other stuff
-
As DJ said we wouldn't have it there if juice wasn't allowed. But no sippy cups for the camp ground roads only at home if you know what I mean.
Foxtrot and Ben, that would be great.
I may go rattlesnake hunting Saturday morning. If I do, anyone is welcome to go but you have to have a snake permit to hunt them. You can get them for $25 on the fish and boat commission website. Send for them in May if your getting them.
Renny, maybe next time. How do you know Hern snores?? ::) ::)
-
Sure -- Now your gonna throw snake hunting in the mix... sheesh.
Well... at least Hern snores when he passes out in his chair at camp. His wife told me he drools a little too.
-
Figures, whats next for old Hern? incontenance?? ;D
-
Sure sounds like a fun weekend, but I am sure I can't make it...unless....I will have to talk to the wife again...
-
Nice to see members doing things like this on here... Look at all the great friendships that have occurred as a result of predator hunting and the PPHA...Even some members that no longer are members of the PPHA are now friends with people all over the U. S. because of predator hunting and in some cases because they belonged to the PPHA...In some instances the membership in the PPHA is priceless for some..Others probably don't even think of the friendship they now have because of predator hunting a being once a member of PPHA.. Keep up the good work all you people the plan this stuff...Also thank you for doing all the planning and the hard work too..
-
Thanks UB!

I have to confirm the sites by may 9th. If anybody is still on the fence, you need to make up your mind before then. Thanks.......Tim
-
cant wait. had a blast last year and I doubt this year will disappoint either.
-
I will try to stop by and chat, wont be camping though
-
ah comon shawn...no camping?
-
As of now. Count me in. When do you need final count? Kids might come with so I might rent a dear drop camper this year.
-
Swater2
I think I saw cabins there for rent, you could look into that.
-
I need to have a final count by may 9th. There are cabins there but not sure the availabilty. If you or anyone is utilizing a popup or camper, let me know because the cost is different. We are getting 10% off. Popup site rental is $30.60/night. Campers are more but not sure exactly how much. I wanna think around $40.00. The main difference is you have to have a one night deposit ahead of time with your name, address and phone number. The others can pay when they get there. Thats why I need to know ahead of time.
The camp ground is being very accomodating to us. I held ten sites and they are all booked. I called them the other day and asked if we could hold two more sites just in case and they said they would. If for some reason they have to fill them we can put more than one tent in a site. The site are very wide but not real deep. I plan on having one central site for the fire and cook tent. Of cours everyone can have there own fire if they want. I will need kindling and firewood if anyone can provide.
-
I can't stay for the weekend, but could bring my boat saturday and do some fishing and eating, as well as bring firewood if its needed.
-
I can bring some firewood.
-
I can bring firewood, probably some old skids from work for kindling as well...
-
Coyotenightmare, that would be fine. Hope to see you there.
-
ah comon shawn...no camping?
Cant take too much time off....got a district to run ya know ;)
-
I will try to stop by and chat, wont be camping though
Thats a good thing. Did you ever hear him snore? :o :o
-
Sorry I won't be able to make this event after all. To much going on.
-
OK, gotta call today and confirm with the campground. Any last second additions? Let me know by noon. If anyone decides later that they want to come just let me know. We can put two tents per site unless its a huge tent. We will squeeze you in somehow.
-
Ok, here is who I have confirmed.
DJ + 1?
Tim + 2?
Ernie
Hern
BigBen
Jason R + 3
Bob + 1
Frank B + 1
Nathan W + 4
Joe B + 1
Coyotemightmare (SAT only no camping)
Lifes2Fun (SAT only no camping)
I will post once more with all the details numbers and directions before the weekend so check back often. Any last minute campers will have to call or PM me. Thanks.........Tim
-
If you know for sure that you are coming, and you know for sure what food/drink you plan on bringing, can you post below? First, it shows Tim and I what we have to go buy with our allowance. Secondly, it might spark some interest in others to come join us in a good time! We already have more than last year I believe and I think this year is going to be better already than last!
-
pm sent

Who's bring'n the french fry cutter and tatars? (As soon as those frys hit the table...they were gone...lol)
I purchased a cutter after that outing. I'll bring it alone if we need it. Let me know.
'51 and Ben, let me know what you need and I'll bring it along. PM me what you need.
-
this is tim and dj's show. im just along for the ride. ;)
-
Gonna put together a list shortly and that will give you guys a better idea of what to bring.
Hern you can bring the french fry cutter for sure. Won't hurt to have two.
-
Hern, bring along your FF cutter, we'll be able to kick out extra taters that way...i'll be bringin the fryer...
-
Lookn4Fur
I just filled out my snake permit to put in the mail. Just in case Tim wants to go snake hunting.
-
Cool. I have at least one spot we can go to.
-
Ernie is going to get snakebit!! :o Who knew? ??? You could have sold tickets!!(Susan B. Anthony $2.00 bill gets you in) :) I have got to come to this once in a lifetime event ::) What day is this planned? ;D I can see it now, Hern cutting x's with his ff cutter where the Fang marks are ::) Then trying to find a volunteer to suck venom out :P :P :P Just sayin 8)
-
Jasper
No snake in there right mind would sink there fangs in this old dried out tough shin. I will take two bucks of that. Get out that moth ridden two bucks you have buried in your yard.
-
wings n clams/fries friday night...sat night 2 smoked turkeys/fries...there will be plenty of other stuff to grill and snack on...
-
I am sure we won't go hungry
-
Is there still room?
-
yes! there is always room, we can make arrangement changes when we get there...if you want to go we can make it work
-
Anyone keeping any Snakes, I'll be happy to skun 'em for you (and/or pry their jaws off your arm).
cs51, I'll bring the extra fry cutter. Need anything else? Fire wood?
-
I think any extra fire wood is a good thing, I think i'm bringin some stuff that was just cut for sittin round the fire, probably wouldn't be the best for cookin, and I think ben is bringin wood as well
-
I can't make it! I just realized I'll be at my cabin for 2weeks during that time.
-
thats too bad tracker...hope to meet you sometime in the future then! you're really missin out on hangin out with some really cool people
-
I got some good hardwood to cook on.
-
If anyone has a whole Fox or Coon in the freezer, bring it along and I'll do a skun'n and fur put up demo.
Let me know if I need to bring my skun'n stuff.
-
I was planning on bringing my boat and some fire wood on saturday, but I won't be able to make it. A good friend of mine invited me to his wedding that day...snake hunt sounds like fun
-
I got a red fox in the freezer if ya want a critter to skin.
-
Spent the morning repairing my canoe and this afternoon I took it for a test spin. ended up catchin a couple doz gills for bait for the weekend. plannin on hitting the streams this week as well.
-
Glad you got it fixed Ben. Sorry for putting my big but in it and making a hole for you.
I will be putting an e-mail out within the next day or two with details for the weekend. Of course if there are any questions just shoot DJ or I a PM. Thanks...........Tim
-
no prob. I don't know how good the fix is. but I doubt I will be draggin over rocks too much anymore. gonna have to get out and ford it over because I think the plastic I welded it with is softer then the original stuff. all I know is it held for two hours yesterday.
-
Ok here is the website for the campground we are staying at, https://buttonwoodcamp.com/ You can get phone number and directions from this site. My cell number is 717-649-6822. Call me if you have any problems or questions or get lost. Check in is 1:00 pm on Friday and check out is 1:00 pm on Sunday.
All the sites are reserved under my name. When you get there stop at the office (red barn) and tell them you are with the Tim Deckard group of campers. Bring your own camping, fishing, hiking, swimming gear and anything else you can think of. The PPHA will be providing the drinks (non alcoholic) and food. If you need any special foods you will have to provide your own. You can also provide your own alcohol if you want. Please remember this is a family event so we need to keep things in check some what.
I am bringing a canoe and two kayaks that anyone can borrow. If you have your own and can bring them feel free.
The only thing we really need from others is some firewood and a fire grate to cook on. If anyone can and wants to bring a grill, griddle or cook stove then thats fine. We have but im sure a few more would be better. Here is some of the food items that we are bringing so you know if you don't like you can bring something else.
Chicken, Eggs, Cereal, Hash Browns, Bacon, Breakfast Sausage
Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Sausages (Hot and Mild)
French Fries, Coffee, Bake Potatoes, Smore's, Watermellon
Chicken Wings, Clams, Milk, various drinks (soda, water and tea)
Wild Turkey Breast, Chips and Pretzels
I think we have around 22 people camping the whole weekend and anywhere fro 5 to 10 people coming to visit on Saturday. The main goal is to have as much fun as possible and stay safe. See you all at the campground.........Tim
-
I got some firewood I can bring. enough to for one night and a cook session.
-
i can provide some firewood also
-
weathers looking good for the weekend now. some T-storms friday is possible but sat and sun look clear. got most of my stuff packed just gotta work a few hours tommarow morning and then head north.
-
I'll be a little later in the evening, just got home from a 12 hr day, and if I want to be up there in a reasonable hour i've gotta get up and go back around 9am...great haha and i'm packing on the fly! Tim, remind me of the crap i'm supposed to bring during the day...hahahahha
-
If anyone has any questions or needs me you will have to call my cell phone from this point forward. Hope to see you all there and have a safe trip........Tim
-

There were so many laughs, my chest hurt and cheeks were cramped(top ones)
Great people!! Its too bad it couldn't last longer.
The kids were super bummed that it was over.
Thanks guys
see ya next year
-
Had a great weekend with you guys. Thanks DJ and Tim for making this happen it was a blast. Cant wait to do it again. Ben i can still see you crashing that bike and on the bouncey. Good times with the PPHA.
-
In Ben's defense, he baled off the bike because he didn't know where the breaks were and he was coming up on the pack of other racers too fast.( so he says)
I wont soon forgets those images either.
It was great to see everyone again, and meet some great new members
-
it was a good weekend. And yep I didn't want to hit no one so I bailed. not hurt at all. it stinks that I gotta go back to work again this morn.
-

-
That was the right thing to do but if you don't mind I'm sticking with the story that you lost control and flipped it. Makes me laugh even now!!. HAHA ;D ;D
-
whatever floats your boat tim. I still had fun and to be honest this past weekend prob ranks number 1 on my best weekends ever with friends and that includes all the hunts all the rondys and other get togethers we had. I had a blast and it shows what the ppha is about. thanks again for those involved including those that showed up and participated.
-
You got that right!! Word is getting out slowly but surely how much fun we have at these events. I finally got a count and we had 27 people at this event. That is actually double from last year. The first two were in district 4 so we will try to have it next year in district two. Im hoping we can add another ten or so people by then. Its gonna be tough to beat Buttonwood Campground though.
-
yep. buttonwood campground was prob one of the nicest campgrounds I have ever been to if not the best campground I have been to. there is plenty to do there for anyone of any age. I'll def be at next years no matter where it is. 8)
-
Anita and I have both stayed at many campgrounds in our separate lives, but on the way home all we talked about was the weekend and the Buttonwood camp. I would'nt mind if it was there next year. Kudoes
to Tim and DJ.
-
Hokey Smokes what a great weekend.
Thanks to Tim and DJ for setting up this event.
I took one of our grandsons along and he had a blast. Thanks Ernie for taking Jordon fishing in your canoe. Thanks Tom P. for rigging Jordon's rod for tube bait and showing him some knots. BigBen, thanks for clean'n Jordon's catfish.
Tim, Ernie and Nathan caught 2, x-large rattlers and brought them back to camp. My hat is off to these guys for a successful hunt and handling mean hombre snakes.
I think the hillbilly award went to Ben when he fillet catfish on the hood of his Bronco. That's some real hillbilly chit there.
Some things to eat at camp this weekend....Bacon, Eggs, hashbrowns, Ben's Smoked Chicken, Clams, Burgers, Itaian Sausage, Venison sticks, Venison Summer Sausage, Fresh Cut French Fries, Homemade Ice Cream and am sure I missed a few goodies.
It was good to see you yahoo's again and a pleasure to meet you new folks. Let's do it again!
-
Two thumbs up for Tim and DJ for organizing this great event. It was a great campground choice that had plenty to offer for all ages. There was never a dull moment that's for sure.Everyone was very accomadating and it was a pleasure to be part of this group. This is whats its all about.Great people sharing their time and knowledge of the great outdoors and having lots of fun and excitement in the process.

There may have been a tie with you Hern, the guy who was skinning headless rattlers as they were striking at him.
