Do your coyotes have tics?  I cover at least at least 2 counties, sometimes more and almost every coyote is covered.  I rode with Zagger for 3 days this year and although we only had 8 coyotes during that period I saw zero tics when skinning so I asked him about it.  He has none and has never sees them.  This man handles a high volume of coyotes for the east coast so its no fluke and hes just over 100 miles north of me.  He does get a subsantial amount of snow compared to my area.....

Soooo... are there tics in your area?
