Yeah I have started to get more serious about coyotes. The best time for me is the hour before dark. My shots are usually within the last half hour of daylight. Just killed a beautiful 45lb red male right before dark. Gonna hunt for his mate this week sometime. I like night hunting for foxes, but I have educated too many coyotes trying to kill them at night. It can be done, but daylight is my preferred time.

Are you howling them in or using distress sounds

Mostly using distress sounds. Rabbit distress and woodpecker distress is a couple of favorites for me. I do howl some, but really limit it. They are usually a little more spooky coming to a howl. I have called in one really aggressive male howling, but most are more cautious.
