Title: Syndromes
Post by: uncle buck on December 15, 2009, 06:09:06 PM
Call for 30 minutes with electronics and nothing shows and then go to bulb squeaking and or mouth calling and the fox is there within a minute or two after calling....  Kind of a syndrome since it happens quite often...

Yesterday........I hunted red fox with my son for the first time since the year 2000.  I remember the first fox I called in for him and he shot...We used electronics then.....
I took the FX5 with me yesterday but left it in the trunk of the Foxmobile...... I decided, hey I am going to use only mouth calls or hand calls and see what I can call in for him....5 stands and I called in 5 red fox using Crit-R-Call open reeds,  A rabbit voice  channel that I glued inside of a pill bottle with a cap on it, and Syco Twitty.  All fox  arrived with 1 to 3 minutes of my calling.  I even got a shot at one of them and I was doing the calling.....

Not looking for anyone to say that I can call well...However Taking the taste of humble pie here now...Maybe I can understand why some predator hutners only stay a 10 minutes on stand when calling...Could be they are using mouth calls and figure if they don't come by then time to move on....Me  I do not stay only 10 minutes...I stay maybe 35 for fox and up to 45-50 for coyotes.  That is because I always start off with electronics.....But won't leave until the mouth call touches my lips.....

Should we use electronics for calling?  Yes by all means there is a time and place for everything...Should we also use mouth and hand calls? Oh by all means...Since your selling yourself short...Since....Many times when the electronics are not working...A few toots on the mouth call and they come from their hiding places into gun range..

Syndromes......The Syndromes of Predator calling!!   Dang there were moving last night!!!

I was gonna go lastnight but I couldn't get out till 11:30. I'm planning on hitting them hard this weekend. I haven't been in the woods since the first day of rifle season. That will give them a nice break from pressure.

Uncle buck,When you follow up your electronic call with a mouth call do you wait a period of time or start right away?

I start right away..As soon as I shut the call off..... Many times they are lurking near by because the electronics attracted them.  Soon as yu go to the mouth call they come in shortly there after...
