Title: Red Lights And White Lights?

 I need some opinions and real facts. I have hunted yotes and fox with red lights only and as you all know sometimes its hard to tell what you are looking at ,at a distance with red lenses.
  Lately we have been hunting with a fellow that despises red lights and only uses white (the brighter the better) he kills dogs,so I cant say what he is doing is wrong, he has been doing this alot long than I. But from all the research I do could we be seeing more if we were using red. We see eyes at distances but having a hard time getting them come in close. :-\.

when i first started, i used a red light to scan then when i was going to shoot i would turn on the scope light (white) it would spook them really fast and most times i couldn't get a good shot.   now i use two red lights and they do not spook.

Yellow lights are being used by a friend with great success. Brighter than red but not bright enough to spook animal. I myself have not tried it yet. I continue to use red lens.

I have tried the white light and have successfully called in fox within kill range....

The important thing to remebmer is the brighter the light....the more important it is to keep them in the "halo" of the light. I've used red, green & blue. Never a unfiltered light. I have read articles that say the color doesnt matter but why risk it.

Ah  lights? If you could only grasp or find that perfect light when predator hunting at night time..You would be harvesting the fur thats for sure.
Recently discussion with other predator hunters in this club...Finally let me see the light.  I am no longer going to use the cheap aurz belt head lights found at cash registers and even the expesnive cave dwelling lights (Petzl).  Going back to the heavy cumbersome storage battery type NITELITE or Equal (Western River) that you carry on your belt.

Again discussion with members on here about using light color combinations also made me see the light too....
You miss a couple shots on coyotes because of your light and you swallow the humble pie real fast and make a light change....
Funny we do say the club is this and the club is that some good and a lot bad.....However wow am I getting my $20.00 worth of valuable hunting info from being a member here... Me....even with 24 + years of calling I am still learning...It be the lights that I keep learning more and more and more about....
