-
I'm a little new to this but I am in D4.....do you have to be a member in D2 to participate in this hunt or just have to take game in D2?
-
no, just a ppha member, you can post your pictures online, they will give a code out on Friday before the hunt with a certain pose.
Scott
-
no you don't have to be a D2 member or no as in you can take game say in my case D4 and just give the code and pose to confirm
-
as long as you are a PPHA member you can take game anywhere in the state and check it in for this hunt.
All PPHA hunts are open to all members.
-
Thanks for clearin that up scott...open to all!
-
coming up next weekend folks!! ;D

I'm spankin' new to this, are there any prizes for the winner or is it just for good fun? I'm going out either way.
-
welcome to D2! good luck on the hunt this weekend...weather is lookin good! heard you drove quite aways to join the PPHA...glad to have you aboard! we have a few members around your neck of the woods...ask around for some help in getting you going...lots of guys are here to help!
-
Where you from CA? The only prize for this weekends hunt is bragging rights, for partciapation reasons its open to everyone in the club, if we wanted to have prizes worth any sort of $ then we would have to have a face to face check in at a location...this hunt is posting pictures of your fur online with a checkin code or pose in the picture to be released friday night at 9pm...good luck
-
Thanks guys. I live in Gettysburg, originally from Mifflin County. Prizes would've been a better excuse to tell my wife than bragging rights, but I'm looking forward to this weekend anyway. haha
-
we got a new moon friday night and low winds.....temps will be just right too.....can't wait!

Just got in from hunting tonight. Only made it to 2 spots as the ole legs were cramping bad. The first place I went I just got permission at 5 O'Clock. I had seen a coyote cross the road into the property a few weeks ago. Nice thing about this farm I can walk to it from my in-laws house. I set up for about 30-45 minutes with nothing showing. However, as I crossed back the field I came upon a dead coon. I thought about putting it in the truck, but I said no, as I couldn't tell had it died. There's ben reports of rabbies in the area.
My Second stop was at the farm I have been hunting all season for predators. My first stand there didn't produce anything other then the neighbors dogs barking. So, I moved down to the other side of the pond along the fence line to the next farm. Which I might be getting permission to hunt. I set the Power Dogg about 10-15 yds down wind of my location. The way I was set up the pond was to my right and a open field to my left. I started out with the coyote Serenade. Then waited several minutes and hit the pup distress. A few minutes later I hit the jack rabbit distress off and on for a few minutes. Then I heard something running thru the woods over my left shoulder. It was a deer. Got the heart pumping a little. I turned the jack back on. Again I heard something running thru the woods. Another deer. I thought to myself "what has the deer running. The whole time the second deer was running I left the call on. I Finally turned it off. I'm still looking in the direction the deer went. When I heard faint foot steps coming from along the pond. I turned my old ricketty neck as far as I could. I caught movement of something, but it made it past the beam of my head lamp. So, I turned my fat body to the left to catch eyes and long legs. It was a coyote. Not more then 5 steps away from me. It froze. I slowly pulled the mossberg up. It turned and walked away. At that point I brought the gun up turned on the spot and waited for it to get into a clearing in the trees. BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMM!!! The Dead Coyote Hevi Shot went off. I know it woke the 80+ year old land owner up, as I'm only 200-250 yds from the house, with permission. I quick ran to where the dog was standing. Nothing. No dog. I looked for blood and hair, but its hard to find with a red light and the graound being wet. I'll go back in the A.M. with my wifes uncle. But, I'm sure I missed as I am still not used to shooting over a light.
-
Wow, Great job on the call in!!
Hope you find something in the am.
Believe me, We all miss
-
Well. I went out looking this morning before the rain started. Couldn't find anything. The only thing I could find was a lot of coyote scat.
-
Thats too bad swarter! but hey, at least you got to see a sepa yote, which doesnt' happen all that often! great story!

what were you using for calls? like small mouse like sounds, voles, ect...or more towards the fox mating sounds, as we're gettin closer to breeding season?
-
I just use mouth calls mainly distressed sounds. I like the higher pitch sounds

Wow! all I can say Is Congratulations. Now you need a Foxpro.
