Title: Bow Season tomorrow
Post by: muttbuster on October 02, 2009, 07:59:36 PM
Yea, tomorrow is the first day! Who is going and what are you looking to kill? Are you hunting from a "blind", on the ground, or in a tree stand? How many are using cross bows and how many will use one for the first time? I still use my Hoyt Havoc, hunt from a climber and am only looking for a wall hanger. Any more that's all I hunt when it comes to deer. If I'm going to drag one out it might as well be a big one.

Going tomorrow. Hunting with my mathews dxt from a treestand in the morning and in a field on the ground in the evening. Haven't seen a great buck in the woods yet. Good luck, tomorrow.

WEAR A SAFETY BELT. It will be real slick on those trees with all this rain.

I've seen a few decent bucks but no monsters yet. The last three big bucks I've killed came in from the thickets. I never even knew they existed. I spend most of my free time in the woods so I know their in there. The big boys are masters of concealment. But the right place at the right time doing all of the things right and guess what? Bingo! Good luck guys.

Me and Forrest are heading out tomorrow, he will be hunting with the crossbow and we will be in a double treestand.  he is only allowed to take a buck under the mentor youth program.  we have 19 different bucks on trail cams 3 spikes and the rest are legal (for me).  5 of them are 8 or better with the best spread of about 18in.

Scott, maybe he will get to shoot one of the big boys. Now that would be an awesome hunt for a little fella. Good luck.

Scott I hope Forrest gets the biggest buck in the group...However tell him that even a smaller racked buck is a trophy so we will be proud if he bags any buck..Good Luck to you...Be safe out there too...Let us all know how the hunt developed..It will just be a nice day for a dad and a boy to bond too. Even if those elusive bucks are not on the trails....You All Enjoy Yourselves!!!!!!!!

I've been out since the early season openned a few weeks ago.  I saw a doe and fawn openning night but no luck.  Since then I have dove hunters hunting under my stand and wouldn't leave, that was last weekend.  This morning I had 2 other boy hunters walk in at 0645 to their stands.

I saw 5 doe, but they were at my wife's bird feeder. As soon as she puts out the food they hear the noise of the lid and show up. Just like them high dollar deer hunts out west.  :o

Had a 4 point follow my trail to the tree. Seen a bigger buck 30 yards away but behind some underbrush. Did some still hunting this afternoon. Passed on a small doe. Jumped another in a corn field. Could have shot a fox 7 yards away and it never seen me. Jumped 2 bucks bedding together. Sat in the field this evening and say to 4 points and when I was getting up to leave I spokked a doe. I saw 2 maybe 3 red fox.

My evening hunt consisted of 1 doe and 1 fawn at first. Ten minutes later another 1 year old doe came past with a 1 year old 4 point. I jumped another one coming out of the woods but it was too dark to see what it was. This is why Bow season is longer than one day. It ain't over till the big Buck sings!

Saturday afternoon I got out, had a 3 point on one side, busted antler on the other come running in right up to my stand, didn't have enough time to stand up and grab the bow off the hanger, he stood broadside at 15 yards, had to watch him walk off due to he would have totally seen me stand up, even though I was close to 30 feet up the tree, I didn't have much cover in that stand...later near almost dark I had 4-5 unidentified deer come crashing through the wood lot from I think was a party I wasn't invited too on the next farm over...they had some good tunes playin though...ha
