Elk Foundation going auction off 1 Pennsylvanis Elk tag. Expect to get $100,000.00. Its split 80% game commission and 20% Elk Foundation.
Nice money for NON-profit organization.
-
Maybe we should auction off a hunt with the Muttbuster and Foxpro51 team. LOL
-
I thought that the NWTF got the tag to auction off and the Elk FOundation was in a tiff about it?
Was reading something about it in my Pa Outdoor News
-
I think your right they were not happy. My understanding also.My nephew said the tag went for 27 thousand. Not 100k like they thought.
-
IT was the NWTF that got it. Here is the link for the news release about it.http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?a=11&Q=175808
-
Yea, they got $5400 for selling the tag. Why can't we have an auction like that. Perhaps a hunt in Texas or Wyoming etc.
-
An elk hunt? How about a coyote hunt.
-
Funny you said that BP. I just e mailed Tom P on that same idea. Here is what i'm thinking. Sell 200 tickets at $10.00 a piece= $2000.00
$1000.00 goes to PPHA and $1000 goes to me and for winner. It works like this. The winner gets 5 to 6 days hunting in Wyoming with me and his airfare is paid for. No license is required in Wyoming to hunt coyotes. I will do all the calling and driving from the airport. I know Wyoming well and WINNER will see alot of coyotes. Average airfare is about $425.00 and I will also need to rent a 4x4 SUV $600 wk.. I am loosing in the deal but its for PPHA. I also have some decent places to stay were i hunt. They will see wide horses, mule deer and antelope. Beautiful country IDEAS?

bp?

All hunting would be during daylight hours and hunter would need to be certain age. Only one hunter allowed for this trip. $100 per day for another hunter just to cover my expenses.

I put up a Fully guided Maine bear hunt that was offered to me ....cost for 1 person to go on the hunt $0 for the PPHA.
Tickets could be sold between now and July with the winner being drawn at the Expo
I did make mention that not many people like to go out of state by themselves and thought about purchasing another hunt from the guide if we would purchase the second hunt for approx $1400 that would be an all inclusive (minus travel expense and hunting license fees) hunt for 2 at active bait stations in Maine. Thats food, lodging baited bear stands and a guide.
Last I heard we were waiting on a small games of chance license.....I offered it about a month ago.
BTW he has 100% shot opportunity. With a very high success rate. I believe he has about 52 baited stands.
Thats 30 days of selling tickets already missed out.
Like you said $10 a ticket.....we should be able to sell a few hundred tickets.
My thought was have 1000 tickets printed sell as many as possible and see how it makes out.
I even offered to head it and get everything rolling by having tickets printed up....but as I said...last I heard, still waiting on the SGC?

Lifes2fun Great idea but as you said we are getting to close to bear season in Maine. Good idea though.

I have 2.5 million acres to hunt on in Wyoming. This could be a good father and son trip. They must have camo, facenet etc to hunt these areas. Wide open country and no trees. Small caliber rifle suggested. 223, 22-250,243 I can call them in but they must do whats needed when there in.
-
Shawn, the bear hunt is on the agenda for sundays meeting.
The secretary has applied for the license but has not received it yet.
It won't be long.
Its a great opportunity

Earl I can make it for either Sept of this year or can make it for next year.
-
Earl, I just won! Let's go! Buy my plane ticket!
-
Bob yep I have gotten some info..I had heard that we were just waiting for the SGC license. when Joe got back form vaca.
-
Thank you,
-
Earl no reason we wouldnt be able to do more than one hunt.
Heck what if we added more than one prize to the tickets....another hunt? how about a predator gun?
Theres tons of ways to make these tickets go....but in the end...WE THE MEMBERS must make sure we sell them.
-
Guns raffles are getting to be a pain in the butt. Plus libility. We did it for Sci and it was headaches.. $10.00 raffle tickets should work fine. I would only do one hunt at a time. Either the bear or Predator. One advantage to the predator hunt is you usually get more shooting and get to see more country. Bear hunting just sit in a blind and maybe get eaten by black flies. Predator is a little harder once you see animals than baited bears. Either hunt would be fine choice. Selling the tickets is the key.
-
Pretty good ideas Shawn and Earl. Could be worth trying. I brought up selling the Gun Raffle tickets back in 2002 at one of the first few meetings here in D2. But it never got off the ground.
I thought the club already had the SGC License. Guess not? My opinion though is Gun Raffle tickets will sell much faster, much easier and many more of them than a Hunt Raffle ticket will. Put a few Guns on a ticket and they usually sell like hot cakes.

If we do this we need to sent each member some tickets, Advertize in numerous sites and put it on the top of this site. This could be a good thing for PPHA.
-
I would love to see a $2000 to $5000 fox hunt next year by PPHA. I have many ideas on this.

All this sounds like fun.
