Wondered if any of you will enter Mosquite contest?
-
Not I
-
;)
-
I'll be in it. Gonna call on friday and probably run with the hounds on saturday.
-
my friends enter,i will be going out with them.
-
I might. Just got permission to 100 acres and possibly the neighboring farm where a pair of yotes were seen the other day.
-
hey trophiesonly, every member of a hunting group has to be registered.
-
not I, I used to a very active member down there at one time.
-
what happened, mountainfox?
-
imo the hunt got to big to fast, when it first started there was a lot of cheating that was going on just got away from it.
-
I'm sure the cheating didn't go diminish as the purse went up.
-
BP some of the cheating that was going on now thanks to the PPHA is no longer cheating. Like hunting over bait and having a light mounted to your gun.
-
The cheating has escalated to guys having coyotes in pens.
Its horrible
-
Excactly I think last year one guy turned in 7 coyotes himself, thats just a touch to good if ya ask me
-
I'll never sign on for that again
-
I HAVE TO AGREE THAT THERE IS ALOT OF CHEATING THAT GOES ON DURING THIS HUNT. LAST YEAR I TOOK A WEEKS VACATION TO SCOUT AND HUNT. I DID KILL A COYOTE DURING THE HUNT WITH CALLS I MADE AND ALOT OF HARD WORK. WHILE TURNING MY COYOTE IN SOMEONE TURNED IN AN UNUSUALLY LARGE NUMBER OF DOGS. IT WAS EITHER 7 OR 11, I CANT REMEMBER. EVERYONE WAS AMAZED HOW GREAT OF A HUNTER HE WAS. MY REACTION TO MY FRIENDS WAS, " THERE'S NO WAY, IN PA YOU KILL THAT MANY COYOTES IN THAT TIME FRAME" ESPECIALLY WITH THE WEATHER CONDITIONS THE WAY THEY WERE, NOT TO MENTION, WHEN USING DOGS YOU DONT KILL EVERY COYOTE YOU CHASE AND YOU HAVE TO FIND YOUR DOGS AT SOME POINT. ITS TRUELY ASHAME PEOPLE HAVE TO STOOP TO THAT LEVEL BECAUSE OF GREED AND SELFISHNESS. PREDATOR HUNTING IS MY PASSION. ILL PROBABLY HUNT THE MOSQUITO CREEK HUNT NEXT YEAR, JUST FOR MY OWN SATISFACTION. IM IN IRAQ RIGHT NOW, YOU DONT KNOW HOW MUCH ITS KILLING ME NOT TO BE ABLE TO HUNT, BUT ILL GET THEM NEXT YEAR. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE HUNTING AND KILL ONE FOR ME

ed thanks for serving.
-
Yes Ed some of these kids here dont know how good they got it,most couldnt handle being there. My thanks to you to,for makeing the US. a safe place.
-
Thank you ED!
I am signed up for the hunt, but I don't get to serious about it. I figure I'll be hunting anyway so I have no problem taking some of their money if I get lucky.
-
Thanks for all your hard work and courage Ed.
-
Thanks Ed and be safe. ;)
-
Thank you
-
THanks ED . Keep your head down. Been there and done that. Disabled Vietnem Vet.
-
Thanks Ed for serving our country. Just remember us at home are all praying for you and everyone else in your shoes. Be safe!
-
Not I ....it is about chasing with dogs not calling. The number of dog hunters is unreal...and once a dog has chased an coyote on that weekend of the hunt forget calling it.......
Good luck to those who entered.....I did not.

I,ll be in it. It is a good reason to go to camp and get away from the job. mite just kill one of them critters to. I doen,t like the dogs in it either I,d rather it just be calls only but thats just me and there is more then one way to hunt them.
-
I'm in, leavin for camp now. Would also like to see calls only but I dont make the rules
-
That contest is a joke.
-
earl its no joke you kill a big coyote you win im going out with trophiesonly were going to kill about six but its hard when pushy and sepek are killing them all. we need to get johnny stewart calls
this is richie
-
Hope you guys get a BIG FAT ONE.
-
True, everyone has a chance to win. It is a different way to hunt coyote wit dogs. Most guys on here are callers. That makes it harder. You're going out with one of the best so if any one has a chance it's you guys. T.O. is a good hunter. Nail a bunch of them.
-
Hey furwacker, where are you from? Are you in d6? Welcome aboard and good luck.
-
yup hes in d6.
if he would only pull the trigger muttbuster.lol.
He got yote fever last friday night, but he made up for it and shot 1 in the head on sunday.
We got 2 guys who are friends, they do way better than us,they have got 5 so far in 2 weekends. The tubmill hunt, and another this past weekend somewhere. They will probably knock off 2 or 3 this weekend.I need one of those js 612 long range calls it does the job,run the coyote locator for a good while then the dennis kirk female whimpers.BUT you can hear that js call a long way. When its windy the foxpro dont have the balls.I only have the nx3,it has both amps and 2 speakers like the fx5,and fury.I had 2 cheap ones the fp-38,and the zr2 and they were not loud enough here on a windy night.Realy brings them from a distance. Also the js coy/wolf howls bring in the males this time of the year.It is a good sounding howl.
-
I want to see a member of PPHA win this contest. You know we can do it.
-
we used to have some big yotes here.As we are getting so many,we havent killed as big of ones the last few years. If it is real bad some hunt them in tents over bait. You make a pile, and put a 12 volt battery, and a small map light shinning down on the pile.Set the tent up about 50 yards away.Cracked corn with AG salt mixed in it works good.Or scraps from a butcher shop, and deep fry them in a turkey fryer. They can use dogs, but we are allowed to use bait.Shot 1 over a bait pile, and wont do it again.Just didnt seem right. But it is legal. We see alot in groundhog season, but if i dont call it,i wont shoot it.A budy gets one every year for the wind ridge sportsmans hunt, and he doesnt own 1 call.Kills them all with a 22 mag, with remington bullets.
-
he uses a 18 dollar trap bait call. One set of batteries lasts 30 hours,so i guess he owns 1 call.lol..
-
TO. We need to hook up. You definitely have your #### together when it comes to the dogs. you should come here to hunt. We have a nice sized pack with some real big ones. I killed three last year but none this year. I've seen them but they were to quick. There are a couple of very big dogs in the pack. I missed one last year that had to go 65 pounds. Some of my friends saw the same dog and they agree on the weight.
-
WE need the flying Predator Drone to find them. We can than use APG's, land mines and grenades to get them.
-
...or hire me! 8)
-
I saw the drones today at their "secret" hide out on the news today. they're hiding in Pakistan somewhere.
-
...or hire me! 8)
BP said he can find them. It must be his Coon dog nose.
-
I have a nose for coyotes except when I'm armed.
-
That's a simple solution. Stay armed.
-
65lbs????
-
That was a wolf
-
It is the biggest coyote I have ever seen. The two other guys that saw it are very straight people. One is an attorney and the other is an oral surgeon. It runs the attorneys property. He thinks it was one of the pack that killed his dog last year.
-
How do they hunt coyotes with dogs?
-
Lots of running...I used to think any fool could hunt them with dogs...well not this fool....I saw some of them run dogs (and I do mean run) all across a mountain for 10 hours plus.
I used to run coons...but they were easy....dogs find coons...coons are in tree...I shot the coons.....yeah well my understanding is...nothing like coyotes.
I never personally did it, but after seeing some videos and talking to a friend that did it...my respect is way up for those run and gunners with dogs. (my understanding my buddy has a lot more respect for them after a tiring evening too ;D)

Thanks
