Title: WHAT A CRUNCH FEST.
Post by: Trophiesonly on January 31, 2009, 07:14:38 AM
Got to hunt with BP,last night. What a nice fellow. The snow and ice was very noisey,so tonights plan for me involves some cowpathes, for roads, big briar fields on both sides,a varmint rifle with a long range light..Heard some of the best custom calls that you could ever hear. Those ernie wilson calls will be on my lanyard soon also. Not 1 set of eyes, hunted some of the best spots i have. One is a 1600 acre farm, that is thickets, and still has all the corn up.Seen some tracks, but no luck.
Hope eveyone else is haveing better luck, well gonna get back at it,then rest some, and do a all nighter tonight, its supposed to be warmer.

I know what your saying about the noise.  I went out this week, and made more noise then I thought possible.  I saw my first two foxes while out.  They both came in within minutes of sitting down.  Neither of them got close enough, but either way, it was nice to finally see somthing.  Good luck.

TO, had a blast even though my guns were bored.  You got some really cool noises you make yourself. (game calls, not bodily!)  See you this afternoon.

We allways use rifles for hunting and we can allways stop them when needed for a shot. 100% of our fox were killed with a rifle. That's about 20 foxes i called in this year. 95% of our fox were shot over 100 yards at night. Favorite hand call TWEETY, CRITTER call. Foxpro Scorpion to entice them closer.

No good. I missed one red 5:00 pm yesterday with my 223 (I jumped the gun). The time I did get out at night was horribly windy and noisy. Got out for an hour Friday night and my headlamp bulb blew. Even my hot spots were a bust.

Hey foxpro51 what caliber rifle you using for fox? and what for load? Just shot another one tonight with my .223 and like all the rest blew a hole in him the size of a grapefruit. I am using factory loads since I haven't got loading dies for it yet. Last year i was using a .222 loaded with fmj bullets and was still blowing the hides to shreds. Thats why I've always liked shotguns cause the dont ruin as many pelts. :-\
