Title: Fox Question

I am very new to predator hunting.  I've been out a few time this year behind my house.  Up until today, I havn't seen a thing.  I only hunt in the evening as it's getting dark.  I went out this evening and sat down.  I waited about 5 mintutes and turned on the caller.  Immeadietly, I saw a fox running through a field about 100 yards away.  It wasn't running away or toward me.(Just running) 

About 10 mintues later, I was in the same place, and heard two barks from another field.  (why does a fox bark)  I looked that time, and the fox was running along the wood line and then cut down into the wood on my down wind side.  It looked like he was coming in, but I never saw it again. 

Where should you place your call when hunting?  Should you sit near it, in front of it, behind it, etc?

Set up so, when the fox goes downwind of the caller, he is in a spot where he's vulnerable, in the open, and
in range.
He probably barked because he smelled you

Also its mating season and there were probably two fox there

Also turn the volume down low,predators can hear a long way.Also try to put your call under a small patch of brush,weeds etc,so it thinks its under there and has to take a closer look.

Harrisburg/Hershey area.  Thanks for the help.  I think I will give it a few days/weeks and try again.

Dude you're in an excellent area for fur hunting... jump up on 322 ride east and stop at every farm you can see... make sure you keep a list of properties so you don't forget who all you got... make sure when you ask, you ask about shooting whistle pigs in the summer also...

If any of you guys in the area would like to take a new guy out somtime to show him how it's done, that would be wonderful.  It would be greatly appreciated.
