Title: What calls this time of year.
Post by: predator77 on January 11, 2009, 12:00:02 AM
I realize it's the mating season for these predators so I'm asking, What calls are you using for fox and/or coyotes?

I put my JS red fox vol. 1 in my call but it appears to play faster in my foxpro that it did in the preymaster I had. It comes out a little higher pitch. Will that make a difference?
FOXPRO51. The foxpro question of the month is, What calls (sounds) would you like to see foxpro come out with?

Probably the gray fox fight and red/grayfox fight. I have another sound that is owned by a friend and is deadly on coons. Apparently, he designed this call and he should sell it to FP or traded for a new Fury etc. The gentleman who owns this coon call is a super nice dedicated predator hunter. I'll put it this way. He had a contest against a coon hunter with a dog starting at 7pm till? Coon hunter with dog got 5 coons and he got 19 the same night. I think his call is a winner.

Lackawannafox, Good job.  I allways use rifles on predators. Make sure you get out for the state contest.

I always use a shotgun for fox (just because I lost one last year). It's to hard for me to keep the crosshairs on them when they do that start and stop to the call. I would has lost a chance on my second fox this year because it appeared and was already with in 10 yards. I turned and it ran so I waited for it to hit the opening and I shot it at 25 yards. However since I got some new places to hunt this year that have coyotes I will be taking my 223. and set up for a longer shot. I'm just waiting for everything to be perfect before I hit these spots. Full moon gone, high winds gone no rain and I'm there.

sorry FoxPro51...didn't realize you were playing dumb.

my Pa season wasn't the hotest last year. was working two jobs @ 70+hrs a week, helped my mom through a 7 month battle with cancer,  and had a busy year as the president of the PPHA. 7 or 8 reds, no coyotes, no bobcats(no tag), and 5 or 6 coons.
