2 nephew's and I went call'n Fox, late yesterday morning.
Johnny (17 years old) missed a Red. He should of waited. It was coming. I told him he fired too fast and to read the body movements.
Next stop, Ray (19 years old) dropped a male Red.
2 stops later, Johnny missed a Red....but it then STOPPED! Then he killed it....LOL...another male.
We broke for a late lunch.
The boys talked about going out for Rabbits and ask if I wanted to go along.
It wasn't long, I had my boyhood Stevens, signal barrel, .410 and a few shells in the pickup.
We hit the first briar patch an I spotted a sitting Rabbit. One in the bag.
15 mins. later I yell to Ray, here comes two!
A shot, then another.
I yell, 'Well?'
'I got one', Ray said.
We didn't bump the other Rabbit as we kicked brush and briars.
While head'n back to the trucks, Johnny hit a small brush patch.
Bang! I saw the Rabbit stop and sit after the shot. Then, BANG! He got it!
So Johnny shot at a Red and it stopped and shot at a Rabbit and it stopped. 'What's up with that', I ask Johnny. He said, 'I don't know, uncle, but I must slow 'em down some how.' ....LOL
What a great day with 2 of the nephews.
Head'n out soon and do the same today.
HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone.
Sincerely,
Hern
