Tax Return
« on: February 02, 2009, 08:49:42 PM »
Has anyone filed their tax's for 2008? Is it true the check we received earlier in 2008 was a tax advance from our 2008 refund?

Mutt it doesnt really make your return go down...but you would get more if you didnt receive the stimulus check earlier.

Its not counting as income.....if they wouldnt have had the stimulus check this year....your return would have been the same as it is (if that makes sense)

Does anyone understand this $1000 extra youre allowed to claim for property tax?
I already filed...didnt hear about this til today....it was in the newspaper that there was an additional deduction of $1000 for property tax(above your normal claim)
Might have to file an amended return if its worth it.

Thanks for the info. This is the first I've heard about the extra $1000.00 in property tax deduction. I'll make sure I mention That to my Accountant.

You can't. I already used you as a dependent. But then again what does it matter. The Government appoints tax cheaters to cabinet positions and no one seems to care.

I don't care what tax bracket you're in, it's worth it!

The check you received is an additional REFUND of YOUR hard earned money, not an advance, and certainly not income.  Income is money generated by work or investments.  Refunds are reverse confiscations of what used to be rightfully yours and now is again!
