Title: Predator calling history was made yesterday?
Post by: Buckwheat on September 26, 2010, 10:49:55 PM
I wonder if any one is aware that Predator calling history was made yesterday and some other marks in the predator hunting industry might have been made by Sheri Baity?
First off, I am thinking Sheri Baity is the first woman to ever compete in a calling contest for predators in the US.
Another bit of information if I recall correctly, Sheri Baity was the first Speaker PPHA had at it,s first ever seminar. As far as I know she has been calling and killing coyotes longer then any woman in the sport that I am aware of also.
So great going Sheri for making a lot of the firsts in predator hunting world and breaking trails for the woman hunters to follow.

Yes, thanks to Sheri for coming out and joining in on the calling competition! I'm glad that you got up there and gave it your all, very proud and excited to see history this weekend.

On that note, thanks to everyone once again that came out and did the calling competition, although I was slightly nervous to run one of the most important parts of the Expo, it was truely fun...even with a few laughs

Ernie... wow... I'm a bit choked up here.  Thank You for the kind words.  I never looked at it in this light... it was just something that I enjoy doing and my passion drives me to do crazy things.  I will always remember those 2 packed seminars at Cabela's... that was one time that I actually did feel like the cotton tailed rabbit in a room filled with coyotes  ;)

Thank You Everyone... I had alot of fun and laughs.  And Thank You in so many ways for accepting me into this great sport.  May I get the chance to make more memories with you guys!

Sheri
You are quite welcome. But just stating facts. I do remember the seminars at Cabela's. You had the room packed and PPHA was concerned about having enough space but it worked out just fine.

ok... so it was cool thinking that maybe I made history and all... Well... the history I made in reality is:

First Woman to ever call in a calling competition in PPHA, not the US
First Woman to Have her own Predator Call Line

Now.. on to the good stuff... history :0)))

In 2005 at the Sports Expo in Lake Pleasant there were 2 women in their late 50's and a 12 year old girl that entered the calling contest.

In 1963 Mimi Carlson competed  in the AZ state contest.

In 1959 Dixie Kitts competed in the AZ state calling contest and was the first in AZ as far as memory goes in reading a newspaper clip from the Phoenix Varmint Callers records according to my friend.

Cool facts here guys... I can surely say that I'm proud to be in good company with the women!

Hey Sheri, I can't remember for sure but didn't I film that seminar? If I did I think I'd have sent you a copy. Too long ago, can't quite focus on what I think and what really was!  ???

Sheri Baity
I should have know the AZ predator Callers had a woman caller first. They have done a lot in the past.
But you still are the first woman in PA and PPHA to compete in a predator calling contest. So you are still a history maker, just maybe not a history maker for the whole country.  You still are a trail blazer and history maker, and one to be respected as such.
