If this law gets passes this year what rifles are you going to use?
-
Was thinking about a Rock River Arms Fred Eichler series AR. I may just stick with my bolt action though. The more I think about it, the semi auto only makes sense for daytime hunting. A missed shot at night is usually game over. I think having a quick follow up shot in the dark would only equal another miss. Just my opinion.
-
I will still use the same old rifles.
-
This will more then likely get me deported but im still a firm believer in one shot one kill. It is how I was raised and its how im going to raise my kids. Sorry but its just my opion.
-
Right now I still am going to use my CZ 17 rem and 17 hornet for night hunting fox.
But I do have a Rem. Modle 742 243 semi automatic rifle with a Halo sight I might use for daytime coyotes if leagle.

>:( >:( >:( OK I bought a Ruger Mini-14 in anticipation of the law getting past, which it did. Now I'm waiting for the PGC to tell me what seasons I can use it. My only intent was for predators and Ground Grizz. 8) 8) 8)
-
That could be fun for Ground Grizz.
-
Think an AR in .204 is what I'm going to piece together.
-
Same guns. CZ .17 Hornet, Browning ABolt Micro Hunter in .22 hornet and 204. That is until I get enough money to build an AR. Foxhound, I like the Fred Eichler series also. Just not sure if I want to spend that kind of money. The Daniel Defense Ambush V7 Pro has my eye also.
-
L4F, the Eichler series does have a hefty price tag. I'm going to take a look at the Daniel Defense. I'm not familiar with that model.
-
Do your home work on AR,s. You can build your own after you purchase the lower. You can go cheap or build the best one just how you want it.
I kicked around for a while. I just do not like how an AR feels when carrying it in hunting situations. I had a Colt AR-15 in 223 and messed around with it for a couple years just never liked it as much as a regular wood and metal rifle.
-
Ernie, get your hands on a Ruger Mini-14... ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) Composite or wood..

Goosebumps
Why? I have a remington 243 semi automatic and I like this caliber for coyotes.
What cal. is your Ruger?

Building your own is the way to go. They want high dollar for ones like the Eichler or DD etc..You could piece one together over time and search for deals. I built a nice .223 like that and it cost half what a comparable one would have cost me.
-
Im going to use my AR 556 Diamondback that I've upgraded ...and im building a lower for a 22 mag upper....
-
Yes, I probably will build one. Much cheaper but I am no expert and that scares me.

Lookn4fur
Scares you? Wait until you start looking at the price of some parts. $200 to $2000 price difference on just the uppers. Yep, you have to do your homework. There is just a ton of things to read and parts out there. Then there is cerakoted parts. Now you have to pick colors. LOL
-
:) :) :) Ernie it's a 223 and that's fine for me :o :o :o :o :o My 243 is a build off a Mauser 94 and it is unique and a tac driver, one that will be passed down because of the gunsmith who built it for me.. :) :) :) :)

Goosebumps
But your 243 is not a semi automatic. Stay on topic.

>:( >:( >:( >:( Neither was Timmy's stuff but you cut him slack!! :o :o :o :o :o :o

He can not be helped.
Your getting off subject again.

Here is a link a friend sent me that looks like a pretty sweet deal. Just add a lower blank.

Well, we will get our chance at using semi rifles.
Brother and I shared a .22, Ivar Johnson, single shot before our legal hunting age.
I learn to hunt Rabbits with a single barrel, Stevens .410.
I predator hunted with a semi Shotguns for many of my early years.
I didn't like the semi shotgun because it took to long to unload back at the truck. Many times I drove to next stop with loaded gun in my truck, just to save me time. I was young, covering alot of ground and trying to save time between stops. I was making money and time was money.
I didn't like braking the law or unloading the semi shotgun, so I went to a pump action shotgun.
I was concerned on shooting multiple Fox with a pump, but found that wasn't a problem. I sold the semi shotguns.
So we can hunt with semi rifles. I may take the semi on a Coyote or Groundhog hunt or two next season. Am use to bolt action and will mainly stick with that.
