How do you do a spore test?
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

First of all you look up in mushroom book to see what the spore color is for the mushroom you think you found.  When it references the  spore color this is what you want to show up on the paper.  Of course if another color shows your mushroom is not the one you think it is.

OK  take a piece of white 8 X 10 1/2 bond typing paper.  Nowtake a piece of black construction paper.  Cut the black paper in half. You should make something that is a 4 X 5 piece of black construction paper.

lay the small black 4 X 5 1/4 on top of the 8 X 10 1/2 white typing paper.  Now you have a black piece of paper on one side and of course the white part of the paper is on the other side.

Take the mushroom remove the stem.  Lay the cap gill side down.  Half on the black side of the paper and half on the white side of the paper.  Does not take long  1 or 2 hours your spore print will appear on the test paper.

If the spore print is dark in color brown etc it will show up on the white side of the paper.  If the spore print is white it will show up on the black side of the paper.

You can place two caps gill side down.  one on a piece of black construction paper and another cap gills facing down on a white piece of paper too.

Please contact me with a P. M. if you do not understand.

I have exactly the same type of mushroom (bumpy top 4-8" smooth stem) but it has a white spore print. Tested them to make sure the print wasn't green! What could that one be? PS These are growing in pines!

White spore print?  Don't eat that for sure.  Sounds like one of the deadly shrooms from the Aminita family.  Probably the Destroying Angel.  If It's what I think it is.  It probably has a large bulb that is near the ground.  Stay away from all the white mushrooms. with a veil, a bulb near the ground.  These are deadly and you will die if you eat them..

They do have a large root bulb but they are not white. They are the same color as the ones in your photos! Thank you.

The prince does not have a bulb at the base.  Also the spore print would be brown.  If you did a spore print on black construction paper.  Cap with the gills facing down on the paper and it came out white i'm sure it one of the poisonous Aminita.

The spore print is definately white. You can hardly see it on white paper. Per your above, I did both white and black paper prints.

Outstanding Joe.  Glad you know how to do a spore print now.  There is some outstadning Honey Fungus mushrooms out there now.  Of course when you do the spore print on these the print will be white on the black paper.

Here is what they look like:
