Shot a second but picture is not tasteful...wanted to try a .223 on fox and my factory 55 grain soft point ripped it in half. Back the the .17 ::)

Looking forward to the moon gradually fading away the next two weeks...
This fox was shot at 200 yards off a Tri-X stand rest with a .17 Fireball.

Sorry for my crummy pictures...I'm not real good of photographing myself at 3 AM. ???
-
Killed these two last night while it was still overcast. Once the moon was out it was zippo. Fox 187 yards and coon 75 yards...thanks to the Tri-X stand rest. 8) Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Fox in front was my biggest of the season so far... 13.50 lbs.
-
Nice...!
-
Your a killing machine bud, congrats again.
-
Thanks Bowman and Bedford. 37 more fox to go (fingers crossed :) )...gonna be tough with all the trapping going on...already see a significant decrease in fox numbers.
-
Even the trapper on the farms I have been hunting hasn't done that well. Seeing one here and there but not like last season.
-
The fox numbers in the northwest corner seem to be pretty good, but not good enough to keep up with your numbers. Great job! :)
-
We are very blessed with a high population of red fox in the Southeast. Very few coyotes around me and no grey fox though except for maybe one a season. Someday I would like to hunt further southeast as it gets even better I think in Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, and Delaware counties. Maryland too. I'd bet these areas have the best red fox hunting in the country.
-
Thanks Bowman and Bedford. 37 more fox to go (fingers crossed :) )...gonna be tough with all the trapping going on...already see a significant decrease in fox numbers.
I have seen a definite decrease in fox numbers, starting last year. This year has been tough. And, more and more coyotes showing up in southern York Co...
-
I called in two coyotes fox hunting in Berks county this year where I have never seen a coyote before, so maybe that is an indicator too. There seems to be a lot of feral cats this year too. As a cat owner, I would never let my cats out to be a menace to birds and such. That really frustrates me when people do that without any thought of how destructive they are to native wildlife.
-
What part of berks are you hunting.
-
Very well said concerning feral cats. While I am not a fan of cats I respect peoples
choice to keep them as companions. If and its a big if they keep them responsibly.
When they refuse to do so that's when I feel its my responsibility to rectify this heinous
problem they've introduced into the ecosystem. Feral cats are a huge problem
and at every chance I take it upon myself to help right this wrong. I could go on and on
about this topic. When I was much younger and lived in Fayettenam city folk
thought dropping of their beloved fido out in the country was also ok. I can't even
count the number I personally seized by bullet. While its sad its also
necessary. If these a**hats only understood what they were doing.

Largest of the year so far. Went out in the rain...nothing. When it switched over to snow I called in this 14 lb. male and another that I did not take a shot. I have poor luck in rain but good while snowing. Who knows... ::)
-
Wow! That's a big one!
Nice job.

-
I think you have this contest in the bag!!! Keep up the good work.
-
This is the first year I have entered this contest. Usually keep most of my kills quiet. Too much picture taking for me so I probably will not enter next year but I do appreciate PPHA, FoxPro, and others who offer contests. Killed a few that I did not take pictures of due to pelt damage experimenting with different 223 bullets.
You are very welcome to come up and hunt wirh me Misterjake. It would be fun. Just dont keep track of my misses ;#)
-
Great job killer!

Either you're single or you have the best wife / girlfriend in the world that allows you to get out in the woods as much as you do......Does she have a sister??? LOL
Way to rack em up !!
-
;) Actually, I did not start predator hunting until after I was divorced. I used to sit on the couch feeling down then decided I'd be happier hunting so that's how I roll now. Even lose a few pounds in predator season. :)

-
You're starting the year off with a Bang!
-
Congrats again Seeking! You could stop now and we still wouldn't catch you.
-
Thanks guys, having to much fun! :) I don't like hunting in the snow so that will probably put me on the couch a few nights.
I was actually coyote hunting last night and didn't expect a fox. This large male came charging in directly upwind to the call. I wish coyotes would make these kind of mistakes. >:( Man the .243 really does turn off the lights fast as lightning. Did have a coyote at 200 yards but it was on the top of a rise with no backdrop in farm country so opted not to shoot for safety reasons.

-
Thats a pretty Red !!
-
Thanks, Jake.
Unfortunately, I was coyote hunting and decided to hit a fox spot near home. Shot her with the .243 at 35 yards... Was nice hunting...hadn't been out in over a week.
Headed out tonight but headed right back after two sets...way to bright tonight.
-
Missed one at 100 then shot this guy at 255 with a .223 Rem. handload...go figure. Didn't realize he was past 200. :D
(http://i42.tinypic.com/rwp06s.jpg)
-
Now thats some nice shooting! Looks like it was a head shot....
-
What handload?
-
Playing with a 75 grain Hornady match at 2,200 fps. I am not a .223 guy but borrowed a buddies to see if I could come up with a good fox round that would be enough for a bobcat/coyote as well.
-
Shot this mated pair with the .223 tonight and it wasn't bad in fur damage. Need more to draw any conclusions.
-
Thats a nice looking pair of fox. You definitely hunt hard brother!! Ther results are evident.
-
Man you are just a hunting machine!!!!!!!!!

Lay them down!
-
Taking out some buddies Wednesday and Thursday for a couple hours...hoping they score! Gotta do some scouting tomorrow.
-
Wow a red in Wayne County...times have changed. :D
-
Yes, I couldn't believe it. We have reds galore in SE PA so I drove all the way up there to hunt bobcat or coyote. Couldn't believe I ended up with a red. I swear they follow me. ;D
