I/We did it. My son Logan and I are getting into trapping and have had traps out for about 2 to 3 weeks now with zero results. We checked our traps yesterday afternoon/evening and didn't get out today. I was going to go check them in the morning. At 1700 this afternoon I got a call from the farmer. His grandson went for a ride with his 4 wheeler and saw a coyote in one of our traps. It's the first animal that we've ever trapped. She's a beautiful female which I will tan and hang on my wall.
I personally want to thank my dad Barry Strickland for his confidence in me and his effort to keep me patient. Also I'd like to thank Mike Wojtach, Robby Gilbert of Trapping Time TV for the great show, and everyone else who may have played a part in our first bit of success.

Thanks guys. It sure was fun. Now the wife's mad at me because I just spent $40 on baits today. Lol
Quattro, please feel free to post the pic as I was unable to do so.
She weighed in at 28lbs but the buyer said that she was rubbed. So now I know what is meant by that term.
And yes, the set was immediately remade.

Well done brother!

Nice looking coyote !!

Caught my first grinner this morning. That's one less turkey egg eater out there.
Please excuse the pic, my 9 year old daughter took it.

that’s cool!! I know my kids like going along when I have traps out also!!
-
She just doesn't like the dispatching. She cried when I put the coyote down. She also didn't understand why I had to put down the grinner. Hopefully I don't ruin her by not being able to verbalize myself properly.

Yea, can be hard for some. Not everybody can understand it or ever will. Maybe take her to a fur auction or a trappers event or buy some trinkets for her with the money. You can try and share with her the money to show some end results she may like.

Thanks for the advice Buckwheat, I'll definitely do that.

I not saying it will work. I was just giving you some ideas. Good luck, more parent's need to help with ideas.
We are losing more of our hunting and trapping sports every year. Maybe it will be a thing of the past and only nuisance control people and government agencies to control animals will be the only ones left.
