Title: What's next for the PPHA?
Post by: gdragon on December 28, 2007, 08:53:47 PM
Now that we have the Gun Mounted Lights, decoys, and orange victories under our belt, is there anything else we are working on now?

It seemed to me there were some rumblings about looking into legalizing semi-autos, at least for varmint hunting anyway. Is that something that we are looking into at all?

no rumblings about semi-auto rifles from the PPHA in the last couple years that i know of...Legislature & PGC would not go for that i don't think.
not sure where you heard that from....

there is one regulation change that i'd like to pursue that i believe we can tackle. that is to allow the hunting of coon & bobcats on Sundays.

Lemme begin the rumblings! Yet another dumb meaningless law in PA.

Why do you say that?

I've mentioned this one before.  I don't understand why coon (and bobcat) are not allowed, when fox and coyote are.

Last year there was a storm brewing about sunday hunting. Nomatter what you try to get included, you're touching the subject. And I found that nobody wants to open up sundays any more than what we got now. I just asked about groundhog hunting (HB253). It seem that this is a all or nothing issue.

How about leaving SGL gates open all winter?

I like this one too.  Is there a good reason why they close them?

The reason is...deer season has ended.  I guess predator hunters are in better shape than deer hunters? :?

the game land gates in my area are never open!!!!!   the forestery opens gates for deer season on the state mountain lands.    are we talking about game comm. land or state forestry land?

as for sunday hunting----ive heard a few state legislators that would like to push sunday hunting thru----but they dont have hunting groups willing to back them----to show a demand from hunters 4 sunday hunting----so sunday 'coon hunting might fly if we push it

That's a good question.  Now that you mention it, I know some of the ones I'm thinking of are state forest land.

I know of SGL and SF whose gates close around the same time.

I am against opening gates..... All that does give the road hunters and lazy people more access.  Walking is good exercise

yes it is if you can do it... for me to make a long, several mile walk, I'd have to leave the day before to get there on the day to hunt... then take along all the stuff to eat a deer where it dropped, as there's no way I could drag one out by myself...   8)
