Got a decent snapper, I put him in a fresh clean water tub, I feed apples for a week, then make the soup. We have used this recipe, the last few years
8 ounces (2-1/2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 pound turtle meat, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
1 cup celery
2 medium onions
3 teaspoons garlic, minced
5 bay leaves
2teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 cups tomato
1 quart beef stock

Are they in season?
Thought they came in July 1st? ???

I was explaining how I clean them, should have said "them" in the first sentence. Got that snapper and let him go, too small. Caught four that day. Not certain when the season is on a private owned lake.
I was just posting the recipe. For the soup and added a picture of one.

I'm getting $2/lb for them or I should say my wife's uncle is getting $2/lb from a local restaurant

There is a season on Snapping Turtle? I never knew that...
-
I knew that Frog gigging and hunting was 1 July...Even the taking of 1 each only rattlesnakes with a permit is also July 1st.
I do not trap turtles but have been asked by landowners to do it. Looks like you learn something all the time?

Right UB, 1 per year. I'm thinking private lakes, are a little different, besides a fishing license is not even needed. So there probably is no limit either, I may be mistaken.
I will let you men get them rattlers.

Rattles snakes can be hunted legally with a permit June 12th to July 31st.

My brother sent me the link from the Pa Fish & Boat Commission today.. Never knew you can only harvest 1 Copperhead with a permit now.. Also killing of any kind of snake now in Pa is not legal...
