My father sent this e-mail to me last night. My father is 73 yrs old. He is not only my father but my best friend. He never serve his country in the Armed services because he could not pass an eye exam. Instead he worked for GE on D.O.D. contracts with USAF. Things that cannot be mentioned on here. Any how, when I read the e-mail I could sense how proud of a man my father is to have served his country the way he did. Though he has been retired for close to 9 yrs. He is still called upon from the higher ups in the USAF to check on some of the "Birds" to see if they are functioning properly. I am very proud of my father and always will be.
Here is the e-mail my father sent me.
"It was around ten last night when I was reading about Cavalier King Charles when Lady lifted her head up (she has a blanket on the desk and lays by my elbow). I started to hear what initially sounded like the rumble of a large plane in trouble. Then it got louder and louder and passed in front of the house. Looking out the upstairs window There were at least a half dozen Harley's passing the house two by two flying American flags. Right behind them was a procession of SUV's, trucks, fire engines and police cars with sirens blaring and lights flashing.
At the corner of Pulaski and North Wales was a ladder truck with a huge American flage hanging from the ladder. Flood lights from the fire truck illuminated the area. It was immediately apparent it was a welcoming home ceremony for some one in the corner house with the wraparound porch. A huge crowd was gathered including Center Square fire and police. A young man in Army uniform was shaking hands. I had seen this group of ex-service men on the news who escort returning sevice men from the airport to their home. I was told he was returning from Iraq. I was emotionally overwhelmed by the patriotism and support this service man was receiving and even this morning it still brings tears to my eyes. I only wish I had a camera so I could share the scene with you guys."
As I sit here I type this post and read that e-mail again. I to have a tear in my eye.
