Barnes varmint grenade in 20 cal
« on: September 10, 2007, 03:47:53 AM »
I see that barnes has come out with a 26 gr (kind of light) varmint grenade for the 20 cal's. It is fairly long so should have a pretty good BC.
Hope they do better than the ones for the 22 cal's.
I will have to test them out next year for prairie poodle sseason.

one thing to remember when trying Barnes bullets is the fact that the Barnes bullets are made from a copper with different hardness than regular jacketed bullets. you must throughly clean your bore down to the point of having absolutely no copper fouling inside. than start test loads from there.
the Barnes bullets will not shoot well when traveling through a bore with residual copper fouling from another type of bullet.
i have a buddy from my site that lives in Kalifornia and is now facing a lead ban on bullets. so the other week he jumped the gun and started experimenting with the Barnes in his 22 cal rifles. he called Barnes and spoke with one of thier tech's who helped him alot.

here is some more info.
