whats do you all find as the best fur friendly round fox fox, but still large enough to take coyotes down at 100 yards?

You'll probably get a dozen different answers but .22 Hornet and .17 Remington will likely be the most common two though.

yeah, the 22 hornet will work(my calling partner uses one) . but seems there is an accuracy problem with that round. not easy to get a tight group.
and the .17 rem is way to much velocity for a one hole hide on a fox.

don't know what his problem is, but mine will shoot one hole at 100 yards all day long... if you're shooting factory stuff look at the WW 45gr sp or 46gr hp, both very accurate for factory ammo...

for handloads, there is only one powder for the hornet and that's Lil-Gun with near any bullet you want, but I've found the best accuracy with 40-45gr bullets...

is your partners gun a CZ?...

no my friends is a ruger. ive been looking into the cz's never had one or shot one, but i hear plenty of good things about them. just ordered a custom .19 badger on a CZ 527, with a pac-nor barrel.  hope its what im lookin for. its a 2month wait, so i have lots of time to ha and hum over it.

LOL... Sorry Dale just had too do it... Remington just came out with a Hornet in a model 799 I think looks pretty nice, but for me I'll stick with the proven Browning Hornet that for sure, it is very surprising for a little stick barrel gun...

i am using a 243  fusion in 95 grain for yots . it might be to much but i wanted a heavy bullet for deer if i wanted to use it for that.

Anybody here use a .17 HMR rimfire on fox with success.

I just picked up a Ruger 77 .17 HMR and it is one sweet shootin rifle. I am going to break it in on some chucks

What would be the maximum range you could shoot fox and have a clean kill using a 12 ga, 3"mags w/copper plated BB's. I always figured about 50 yards. Is that about right? Thanks

only way to know for sure is to set up some targets at 10yd intervals and draw a fox sized target on them.....shoot them with yer scattergun and count up the pellets. them bb's will penetrate just fine out to 50yds on a fox...but its the number of bb's that get there that matters.
go pattern yer gun....i'd say your lookin for more than 5 or so holes to anchor a fox......just my opinion anyways....anyone else care to jump in?

Where are you locating those 3" copper plated BB's  :?: They certainly will do the job, but as Woody says you have to know where the bulk of the BB's are going..My brother found 1 box of 2 3/4 Federals box was so old it was coming apart...but paid only $11.00 for them..
