Fur Money...
« on: May 20, 2010, 05:44:48 AM »
I earmarked some fur money for 3 new windows in our house.
Out with the ole, in with the new. I should finish up this weekend.

Going to gut out the entire 1960 kitchen next week. This do-it-yourselfer will take half the summer to complete. Wife and son-in-law and nephew will help.

1) Before...

Set, now to finish...

2)Before...

#2 set, now to finish...

Leglifter, I thought you would reply? Am no expert, but happy with the results...LOL.
I cut and bent some coil stock wrong! Hope to post finished windows tomorrow.
Wish you were here.

I wanted to replace these old window for years. Finally did.
Also this is the last year for tax energy credit on our tax return this year.

Hern, I'm a bricklayer, and concrete finisher, not a sissy carpenter.

I think your brick looks nice, and I'll bet those windows are heavy.
I really like bow windows, If it was me, I would have fought the wife to keep it.
I'll bet all that glass cost a pretty penny.
I still have 30 or so windows to put in my house, at around $400 a piece, I can wait
Great job Hern

$8 average on 'Rats helped...plus Coon did better than expected.
Greys, Beaver, Castor, Sac oil and 'Rat glands... good.
Reds, Mink, Coyote...low.

I trap and call predators. Don't care which way they get in the shed.
I harvest fur like it's a part-time job/buiness.
Made the wife and children happy every Christmas when we were starting out.
Over the years used 'fur money' for: appliances, TV's, VCR's, DVD's, Christmas gifts, Used Car, Donations, re-modeled bathroom, Dues for Gun Club, Dues for hunting/trapping organizations, Vacations, Guns, Weed Wacker, Morgage payment, new fur shed,  taxes,
and others.
Plus, used 'fur money' to update equipment and pay next season's hunting/trapping license and projected gasoline prices and vihicle maintance.

I enjoy myself. Some folks think my approach is only about $$$. Not really. I have a fondest for critters and what they have to offer. I love what I am doing opposed to a 2nd job in a retail store or flip'n burgers.
Am outside, doing what I enjoy and once inawhile I make a buck.
Nobody loves a Fox better than a trapper or predator caller.

LL, I wanted to keep the Bow, but the wife is a penny pincher.
So I went with the fixed pain with flankers (less money).
