Hunted 4-5 stands a night all week long. Didnt see anything. Went out tonight 7:30 pair of greys run in, couple stands later this male red shows up. Had one more that was barking at me down in a ravine but couldn't sucker him in. Oh we'll seed for next year!

2 greys and 1 red

Good job guys on a late season hunt.Alphadawg,I quess timing is everything. Is that a hornet your shooting?Bulldog,I thought the coons hibernate in cold weather but I quess it warmed up enough.I noticed a lot of skunks moving around so springs in the air.Zekedog what did you shoot him with ,no wounds, just the way I like it.

Thanks guys, my rifle is a savage .223 lightweight varmiter. I load and shoot a 36 grain Barnes Varmit Grenade. 9-10 bullets enter with no exit. This year I think I killed more with the shotgun but it might be a 50-50 split.

The coons are in full swing breeding right now. They do somewhat hibernate during the coldest parts of winter but once it warms up enough that their feet can handle the cold they will begin to move around searching for female coons. Same idea as bucks rutting for does.
