FALL FIREARMS DEER SEASONS MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The Commonwealth's October firearms antlerless deer seasons - early muzzleloader season, Oct. 13-20, and special firearms for junior and senior hunters, Oct. 18-20 - are just around the corner and many hunters are spending more time afield to prepare for them, according to the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

NEW DEER MANAGEMENT BROCHURES AVAILABLE ON THE WEB
The Game Commission has developed eight new brochures to help Pennsylvanians learn more about why and how the agency manages deer, and the factors, variables and intangibles that influence this evolving management process.

"These brochures provide another way for Pennsylvanians to increase their knowledge of deer and why and how we manage them," explained Dr. Christopher Rosenberry. "We're hopeful that people whose lives are influenced by deer will take the time to read them and that it will help improve their understanding of the whole process."

WARM-WEATHER VENISON CARE
Improperly field-dressing a deer carcass and warm weather can impact the quality of venison quickly if a harvested deer isn't handled properly warns Dr. Walter Cottrell, Pennsylvania Game Commission wildlife veterinarian.
