Title: 12g ammo question
Post by: matt12 on January 03, 2013, 08:46:30 PM
I plan on going out on Sunday to take out a coyote i keep seeing. I plan on using my shotgun as my longest shot i could get in the woods I'm hunting is 30 yards. The problem is the only ammo i have is Remington Hypersonic steel in BB shot. Is this good enough for coyote? Fox? I've got some slugs to but I don't want to make a massive hole in the pelt.

What shotgun are you using and what is it chambered for?  2.75/3/3.5? If you can get some buckshot.

I like #4 buck but through my mossberg 500 and extra full choke i would shoot passed 30 yds.
It doesnt hold a tight pattern very well

its an older mossburg 500 with a modified choke. 28'' barrel. chambered for 2.75''-3.00''

Do you have a full choke for it? I would buy a box of 3 inch #4 buck in 3 inch which has 41 pellets and see how it patterns on a newspaper. Wouldn't hurt to try the mod choke too
