Coyote Hunt 8/18/07
« on: August 20, 2007, 06:40:55 PM »
Took ChasinTail - Moderator from Huntingpa.com to camp this weekend for a coyote hunt. Derek hasen't ever taken a coyote so the goal was to get him to connect. Took a few stands but Sat eve. we got set up on some dogs.

Made 2 howls with the FX3 and held tight. About a minuite later a big male came to investigate. I lip squeaked to get Dereks attn. and stop the coyote which was about 40 yds to my front/left. Derek took advantage and delivered a 50 yd. shot of 12ga. #4 buckshot to the head/neck and he folded on the spot.

I switched to the pup distress and here came another over the hill but he hung up on the edge of my shotgun range. Needless to say he left the area rather quickly with 3 shots from the Benelli chasin his rear.

Congrats Derek on a great shot and a fine Pa coyote. The coyote weighed. 41.3 lbs.

Thanks, bootmud

Bootmud/ Chasentail

Good going, you guys had a great hunt that is for sure. It does not get much better then that.
Bootmud keep killing those yotes were you hunt, I love to hear that you are making them smarter too in your hunting area.   That will keep me from having to pick up every road kill later on this year. :D

Thanks guys.

Woody,  the Backstabber was around my neck.  We also were using the Foxpro JIB.  We were supposed to howl and then switch to the Backstabber but the coyotes showed up before the Backstabber got a workout.

Oh well, not a bad problem to have. :D
