Looks like a South African farm/canned hunt that went wrong. Poor PH, no skills. Those old circus males only take so much carrying around in a lory and being pooked in the eyes with a stick.

Interesting items in the background and the PH (ak guide) decision to wait. Many guides in Africa on these canned hunts actually sell the hunt by getting animals to charge. This is probably a promotional video sold/given at Outdoor shows to 'selll the danger".

From the small clip that was shown, it's hard to determine whether it was a 'real hunt' or a 'canned hunt'. In either case, if you wound one of the dangerous game animals, they might charge. Most PH's tell you not to shoot until the animal is positioned properly for a clean shot and kill. No one wants to track a wounded leopard, lion, cape buffalo, etc.

I do not know any background on this video, just thought it showed interesting footage. The hunters for sure had the money to hunt them but no skill. The shame is that guide is probably using that footage to draw more of that type of hunter. I just am surprised they did not shoot each other as stupid as they seamed.

Been there - Done that. Not knowing to much about what went on from the film clip I don't know about the skill level of the hunter. He may have hit the lion in the heart/lung area on the first shot and still have it charge like it did, as a matter of fact he may have hit it several times and still have it charge. I seen one big male hit three times with a .338 and he still made an attempt to charge. Not knowing all the particuliars of the hunt I would not judge the PH, nor guess if it was a canned hunt or not - contrary to popular belief most African hunts are not canned hunts. All the PH's that I met and knew during my time in Africa are just that "Professional". But I must agree with Buckwheat that it does seem amazing that nobody got shot.
