Thanks for the great offer. For those that do not know Hern. He can show you the right way to put up fur that will fetch top dollar.

??? Now if we could just git Hern to skun and streech a Buckwheat :o
-
Hey goose, Hern is not that good. This old hide would dry up, crack and fall off if he put it on a strecher. :o

Looking good hern! I was on fur harvesters website before season and they explain how to get the most out of your fur. They were saying that you should take out the cartiage out of the ears. I used a scredriver like they show you but I am finding out it is difficult.I can get about 3/4 of the ear off.Is this nesserary? And do you guys make an inspection hole in your coons?

I can get about 3/4 of the ear off.Is this nesserary?
FurHarverters and NAFA want the ear cartilage removed. When fur is dried and turn fur side out, fold ears over eyes and pin down.
I never did this to the ears, but am trying a few this year.
Skinning the ears is a learning process, and I am getting the hang of it.
I watched a fella from NAFA do a Fox and he left the inside of the ear on the carcass, leaving just the back of the ear and pinning down. He said the ear has no value, so don't worry about a torn ear. He explained the ears spoil due to the cartilage plus they stack better if ears are flat.

And do you guys make an inspection hole in your coons?
Yes.

Ok I am on the right track. Was worried if I made my inspection hole to long but it looks alot like yours. I also started to cut the lower lip off to. Looks good Hern.
-
Yep, forgot to mention to cut lower lip off. No inspection window on Fox or Coyote.
-
Should I just cut the ears off my fox if they create trouble, or is that frowned upon?
