first snow catch *pic*
« on: January 22, 2007, 02:26:04 PM »
This is my first catch in fresh snow.  It is not the fox or coyote I was hoping for but, I'll take it.  A bucket set, in a waterway, using trout and crawfish oil.  Let me tell you that stuff smells.  My buddy Larry did "set" the 160 conni. for me, there is noway I'm that strong!  I tried and tried and he laughed and laughed.  It's a nice big possum though.

not trying to be rude but that might not be considered enough of a waterway to set a coni.  it seems to vary from one wco to another.  mine tells me that as long as the bottom jaw is submerged it is ok.  just don't want ya to get in trouble some day with that.  by the way good catch.

atleast your catching. I made a setter. I took two pieces of metal from Lowes and about 8 inches up drilled a hole and put a bolted them togther and added notches to the short end. works great and its easy to use.

While checking sets, I spotted a red fox out in a field and when I went to set up for it, I got a little dirty.  It is ok, it was worth it.  Until the neighbor farmer went down his lane with his big tractor and freaked the fox out before I could even start to call, well he certainly wasn't coming back.  Yeah, I watched him run away.  Maybe, next time.  I don't mind being dirty, it washes off.  Dirt washes off, now the smell of possum will last for days.  lol!
