I was thinking of using deer meat in one of my first prepared bait experiments. Was wondering if I should freeze it and wait till next summer or do you think it will taint properly with the temps we are having?
thanks
P.S.
have to get a deer 1st

Freezing it till next year has always worked for me. You are gonna need warmer temps, and it's kind of late in the year.
-
don't be usin good deer meat on bait. jeesh.

Save your beaver and muskrat meat from this year
its better anyway.
Summer g-hogs are'nt bad either

I haave a hog in the freeze and planned on saving the rats. Chances of me getting a beaver are slim, piss poor and none.
I dont eat the neck because I was told it was bad for you so figured this way it wouldnt go to waste.

The neck is good. Roast it and eat around the bones.

they told you that so you'd give those wonderful roasts to them... 8)

easist way to do a neck roast is crush some garlic and use a dry rub. rub it up and then cook it in a crock pot for a few hours on low. until the meat falls off. I usually put a jar of speggetii sauce in with it. normally the green pepper seasoned stuff. good enuff to make a puppy pull a freight train.

I'll second that.

we use to do neck roasts but was told the spine had diseases and the neck was like the blood line in fish.
Crap, thats what I get for listening to ultra health sensitive people.
