I have another rookie question.   I have seen some fox in one of my areas that had the mange.  if i trap one or shoot one what do i do with it after i kill it.

in the ditch... don't handle it unless you use rubber gloves... mange is caused by mites and they can get on you or your pets...

Yeah In the ditch but cover it over. Bury, burn, or bag and toss in trash.
Even a dead animal with mange can/will still pass it on.
Its not likely you'll get scabies (mange) just by touching it. I handled a bunch of fox and coyotes with mange without gloves and never got it. I would wear gloves if you have them though. I try to keep a few pair of gloves in my truck. One for setting, one for lure, and one for handling my catch.

Garbage bag then in a dumpster.
If'n you bury mangy Fox (bagged or no bag) Fox/Coyote will dig it up. Never toss in a ditch.
Use gloves, bag, dumpster.

Ever notice if'n there is a mangy Fox around, it's the first one to work the set?
