I hope every one had a good year, I had a nice laid back season and still learned more again. With me getting a cat early I did not have to hunt hard like some other years. I am glade because the older I get the harder it is to do the all nighters.
I am now ready for warm days and fishing. :-)

I just got into the calling this year - Mid January to be exact. I shot 3 fox an one coon. Unfortunately I miss more fox than I hit. I've had great success calling them in, I just wasn't able to close the deal many times. I'm already looking forward to next year! Its a great way to be out in the woods after the "normal" hunting seasons are over. I'm addicted!!!

This was my best season to date. I had some highs an lows but it was an exciting season. I'm ready for the camp out an groundhog hunting
-
Seasons not over yet. we have a month long coyote hunt starting March 1st. better check the events page!!
-
Im rookie this year...but the few times out its been awsome....can t wait to get out there and hunt some coyotes soon....PRED53

Misterjake...if you have the dough and desire I would highly recommend getting an ewcalls.com tripod. I have a hard time missing critters when I use it.
-
I agree ! I actually spoke with Ernie about getting one. Still saveing, but I intend on having one by spring to shoot ground hogs!
-
It is the best piece of predator hunting equipment I own. You will love it.
-
I do alot of walking when I call. Are they cumbersome to carry?
-
As long as I am not going beyond 500 yards I always carry mine. The secret is to use bone support instead of muscle strength...the same way guys shoot service rifle. Just put it up on your shoulder and the shoulder bone supports it and you don't tire. I have 4 herniated disks from a semi professional skiing career and I hunt with mine all night long. Like to hear what others users feel...
-
I'm such an impulse buyer....I just got off the phone with Ernie. I'm headed to Lancaster County tomarrow evening to pick one up!
-
Well this is my seventh season. Not the most fur that I put down but then again I did not do the hunting that I have in the past seasons. The cat hunting did not pan out like I wish it would but such is life.
Buckwheat would you care to show a pic of your cat this season????? Love those cats.
Thinking about doing some yote hunting this march. But I am also looking forward to do some flyfishing this spring. Might have to do the night flyfishing this summer have not did that for a couple of summers. Have to get as much flyfishing that I can this early spring the wife and I are expecting our second child in the begining of June.

Started off really slow with an early miss. Midseason was great, then it got slow again until the last two days. Got a red Friday night and a grey Sat night.
Counting the days until Oct.

Misterjake...how was the trip to Lancaster?
-
We had our best season. I introduced a friend to the sport, and in general had a real good time.
I am now trying my hand at tanning some fur. We'll see how that goes... ???
Hey Buckwheat, where in Lancaster Co. are you?

Thats a really nice cat!! Could you share some detials??If I am not mistaken it was hand called? Imo I think they are the prettiest that the the Pa fur taker can harvest.

That's is a nice one!

There are to many details for me to type. But yes mouth calls. This cat was the one I wanted. But you never know what will come in. I am happy with this cat and there are years of story's on the trail for a PA bobcat. Everyone should target at least one bobcat in there life time. Some time we will meet and I will tell the story.
-
We will meet one day and I would like to get the story of that big cat!! Again congrats and awsome cat!

Mike,
My trip to Lancaster was outstanding!! I had a really good time just chewing the fat with Ernie. I wish I new a tenth of what he did about predator hunting. I could have stayed and talked all night. Oh....and Ernie did hook me up with the tripod shooting rest. I was a little skeptical at first, but once I saw it and how it worked, I was hooked. I couldn't write the check fast enough!!! My only regret is not taking the trip months sooner!!!
Ernie, if you're reading this.....Thank you brother!!! I truly enjoyed the fellowship and stories. We'll have to do it again.
-
So that is where all of the shooting I hear at night is coming from! ;D
I hunt in the river hills on the York Co. side, and hear shooting in the middle of the night from the Lancaster side once in a while...
-
Great to hear about the trip. Ernie is one of the masters for sure and I have alot of respect for him. When he talks, I listen and learn. Most guys do not realize how amazing the Wilson tripod is until they try one. Hard to understand just seeing pictures and having folks discuss. Just one of those things that needs to be experienced. I bet when your buddies use yours they will get one to. Seems to be how it happens.

Yep, Masterjake23 is a neat guy. He has cool side job too. It was nice talking to him. Maybe he will make it to the camp out and meet the rest of the guys.

Im ready for ghog season already. Given the current state of how hard it is to find ammo and components im hoping to focus on no misses
-
Big Ben....If you want to focus on "No misses"........talk to Ernie about his tri pod if you don't already have one!!! If you shoot like me, I can have one paid for in no time at all just by my savings on wasted ammo and missed shots!!!
-
"Im ready for ghog season already" You and me both! :)
Jake, Perhaps we can hook up and go to the camp-out for a day. Hopefully, my turkey hunting/foodplotting will be wrapped up by then...
-
Sounds good to me. I can only go up for Saturday due to my work schedule. Here's my phone number (717) 873-8733. Hit me up and well iron out the details.
