Title: Is a fox with no tail worth skinning???
Post by: Misterjake23 on February 04, 2013, 12:16:00 AM
I was out last night and called in a nice big red fox.  When I walked up to it....the tail fur was completely gone.  The rest of the hide looked ok theough.  Perhaps a little thin in the belley.  Should I still skin it out to sale, or am I wasteing my time??  My first thought was it had mainge...but all in all, the rest of it looked pretty good to me.

    Any thoughts???

Most of the value of a fur is it its back.
As long as it is not mange that affected the tail, its worth the time to skin, IMO.
better to ask your fur buyer

It will be fine if sent to auction.  If you sell it local he will try anx low ball you for it.
