Fox from last night/this morning. Hunted from 12:30 - 4:30. Seen two others, no shooting. Killed two on psycho tweety. Another on tweety. And one with back stabber. Closest fox was 65 yards. Farthest one was 235 yards. Guess I got lucky on that one. Little bit of a stretch for a hornet on that one. That one there wouldn't come in closer, just kept making a big circle on me. It ended up being a big male.

Congratulations guys and thanks Mike for putting this all together.  Sounds like it was a good time.
"Predators are either active & feeding, semi-active & callable, or utterly inactive & then practically speaking, no call is needed; we're just taking our guns for a walk. We can & should get used to it, & follow their leed cuz they just ain't eager nor apt to follow our’s any time soon!

Heck of a night! Made 3 stands, first stand was a no go. Second stand shot a female at 40 yds on FoxPro Adult Cottontail and some lip squeaking to seal the deal. Third stand was a male/female doubble on Baybee Cottontail both came charging to about 50 yards within 30 seconds of each other! .17 HMR did the trick and dropped 2 out of 3 in their tracks.

First time shooting multiple fox in one night and first doubble on one stand. Very proud of this. Thanks Mike for putting this all together and thanks everyone for all the tips / information I have gathered online and at the cabelas meet.

-Matt

Absolutely awesome, Matt!  That is what the PPHA is all about...sharing predator hunting information, getting together, making friends, and laying down the fur.   You done good..on all accounts!   :)

I have never got a double that I can remember.  Were you hunting public land again?

Thanks guys! Mike this was on two of my privet land spots. I'm thinking the gamelands will be better for very late season after the daytime hunters are out of the woods for a few weeks and things calm down. I was amazed when I saw the ammount of boot traffic in the snow at some of my not so secret spots...  ??? duhhh

Matt
Good going, you must have learned alittle something at the D2 meeting. :-)
For a brief moment I could hear nature through all the noise.

Thanks again everyone for the nice comments!

Foxtrot, are you asking about how it has the crazy looking thumbhole and cheekrest that are not on display in this picture?

I like the gun a lot, the shape of the stock is comfortable and is attractive looking. I love laminate but if i was going to do it over with this gun I would go with stainless / synthetic. Lighter weight and can handle the abuse of the woods much better than this.

Keep em coming guys...one more night to nock em down for the contest.  Can't wait to see everyone's final submissions when I check the thread tomorrow... Pelts are prime now...should bring a few bucks at the fur buyers to cover gas money.

Still hoping to give out the prize for the first D2 coyote!!!!

Be safe...have fun! 8)

Shot distance was 100 yards and 60 yards.  Both of these responded to verimator tweety (black) call.
