Title: Mange Fox
Post by: 220_Woody on December 23, 2009, 11:29:51 PM
got a new phone awhile back and just realized i have a micro-SD card reader in my modem for my laptop. downloaded a bunch of pics from my cell phone and came across that fox i shot with mange behind my house awhile back. thought i'd post them up so everyone gets a good gross-out session.... and see what mange looks like up close if they haven't seen a critter with it yet.;D ;)

UB, your Groundhogs, is it mange or are they just rubbed?
I think it's mange but haven't realize what's up.
I find Groundhogs rubbed in the spring but in summer I don't find any rubbed.
Do you think they rub during the winter and hide becomes poor? Then get good food early summer and move about and are in better health?
I never saw a Groundhog's face with mange, just the hinds rubbed.
What's your thoughts?

i find a lot of groundhogs in early spring with the hair missing on top of their heads....i think this is just from them freshening up holes from the winter. i find the occasional groundhog with mange on its flanks.

I remember doing some vigous bulb squeaking one February night over snow...In comes in a fox with no hair on it what so ever.  Kind of looked like that Steam Boat Willy Mickey Mouse Animated cartoon figure from yesteryear... Three quick shots of the Model 37 missed it yet...I was just caught off guard...

Chucks entire bodies seem to lack amounts of hair....Could be they were just not eating right yet...I will have to go back and look at the time frame...I took pictures of some of them......
