I know it's not PA but, got back Tuesday night from a week in Wyoming, DIY walk-in prairie dogs.....I don't want to call it a hunt.....it's more of a shoot.
My buddy John, my son and I knocked down 3,200 of the 3,625 rounds we took with us.....ARs seem to really eat ammo quickly.
We had a great time, got really lucky with the weather and even luckier with solid PD populations. Two towns that were really good last year were totally dead this year but, we had options planned out and a few of the new ones turned out to be really good.
Got to have dinner with a friend from out there and check out some of his coyotes too....just a little icing on the cake.
Here's some pics......we've all seen them so, no exploded PD images

Thanks for sharing!!! That has always been a dream of mine. What calibre did you guys use and what was "average" distance you were shooting??
-
We each take a bolt gun and an AR. The ARs and two of the bolt guns are 223s. I took my 22-250 bolt gun this year.
We averaged around 250-300 yards but, had a few as close as 60 yards and as far as 490 yards.

Thats my kind of fun.....I think I could do that all day long! I'm jealous.
-
All day....for 6 days. ;D
We do it 100% DIY on public land, no license required for coyotes and prairie dogs in WY. It's not at all as difficult as it sounds. A GPS with a WY chip, a pile of ammo, a desire for an adventure and you're all set.
With a couple of friends, you can share the costs and really do it on-the-cheap too (except for the ammo...haha).

Awesome pics. Sounds like a heck of a great time.

nice!!! 8)

That's awesome

;) ;) Thanx for sharing... ;) ;)

Awesome! I've been kicking the idea around myself. Glad to hear a DIY trip can be successful.

You can do it !!

I've been say it for the last year.

Getting ready for 2015. Built this last year, finally getting it squared away.
Might seem early but, load development takes time and there's a lot of ammo to be loaded
Plus, it gives an really good reason to spend extra time at the range ;)

if that's the speeds you're averaging and shooting groups like that I think you got a winner...

Ended up with a feeding problem with that action. Being a stagger feed the flat tip of the HPs would catch the face of the barrel. Didn't realize I had a problem until I started feeding them from the magazine. :(
Ended up selling it off in parts and starting over with a center feed action. That fixed the problem.
