What a business card could do for you.
« on: June 14, 2009, 10:16:43 PM »
I just wanted to let you guys know what a business card can do for you.  Back in mid April I ordered 100 business cards to leave at doors and/or to hand to land owners.  Since then I have gotten permission to hunt 3 properties in the Bedminster area for Preds and/or deer.  These properties probably total about 600 acres give or take.  I have also been called to hunt a nuisance fox getting into a chicken house.  That was Saturday morning.  Saturday evening when I got there, about 7pm, the fox was just about entering the coupe. I do emphasize "about to enter the coupe."

The moral of the story.  Get some business cards and start to hand them out.  They aren't that expensive.

Can we have our own cards printed with the PPHA logo? Does that need to be approved by someone? Where can we get the art work for the Logo? If we can use the logo and name it will give us all a lot more credibility when attempting to gain permission to hunt private land.

I have cards with my name , address ,phone and e-mail address on it I give to people when I go ask for permission. If the ground is posted i also ask them if they will sing a paper I have typed up saying I'm allowed on the ground. That way if I'm hunting and someone stops me and says I'm not allowed on the ground I have a singed paper saying I am.

Remember if your hunting fox now you need to have a nuisance  control permit or its the same as hunting out of season.

As to hunting the fox.  I have exterminator licence that I got for my F/T job said that they I needed but never used.  I keep the licence up to date just in case I need it.

I hope I'm not sounding stupid here but what is a nuisance permit? A good idea would be a statement printed on the back of your card the land owner can sign giving written permission to hunt their property.

Its a good licence I think.  I just looked up my employers licence online.  I'll have to ask him if he still covered.

On my business cards, I have member  PPHA, PTA, and NRA Endowment. I don't think we should use the logo itself.

Muttbuster a nuisance control permit is a Commercial Wildlife Pest Control permit you get from the game Commission .

A  Commercial Wildlife Pest Control permit is required for any person to take, harass, transport, release or dispatch designated wildlife for another person or to solicit or offer their services to another to take, harass, transport, release or dispatch designated wildlife that is creating a nuisance, causing damage to property or is a risk to human health or safety. This permit authorizes the agent to control designated wildlife for another at any time of the yr.

Muttbuster call your regional office of the game commission or your local game commission officer and tell them what you want. They will mail you the application to fill out . The cost I think is $25  and a $50 annual fee then .

After you fill out the application you then have to score at least 80% on a written examination that covers Biology, life history, habits, control methods, care and handling and euthanasia. Plus laws and regulations and diseases and parasites.

After you pass the test you then have to keep records of everything you do.
