Snyder County-
Yesterday, my wife found 35-40 Morels popping up, at the back of our property.
Only 3 were large enough to pick. But plenty to come.
We will watch them closely.
Weather conditions have bee right.
Look for a banner year. Things are right.
Anyone else finding them?

:( :( :( Weather is a little cool for them today... :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\

Yea, Goose, we even had a little frost this morning.
We checked Morels this afternoon, they are growing. Four or so ready to pick.
I'll get a picture or two this week.

I picked a few Saturday. They where a few that I found but where a alittle on the small side. Will check on them this coming week.

Lookn4Morels, It's a weird place to have Morels. The area gets mowed regularly where they mostly appear. Some come up on a weed edge.
I don't mow this area until the Morels stop popping up.
This area is between an Ash tree & and Ash tree stump. 50'-60' circle.
Our daughter's birthday is April 23. And that's when Morel start appearing around my neck of the woods. Am looking before the 23rd, just use that as a guideline.

Yeah that is the best place to find them around dead or dying Elms. If the Elm is completely dead they will stop growing there in about two years. Unless there are other Elms.

Last week, the township took our dead Elm down.
It's been dead for years, but produced Morels until last year. None this year.
That dead tree was a safety hazard. Large, dead limbs would fall on road once in awhile.
I ask township after they cut tree down to just leave it lay. I wanted the butt log for rustic benches and limb wood for campfires.
So no more Morels at that spot, but I'll make rustic benches from that Elm, in remembrance.
