Title: scent spray on traps anybody?
Post by: prdtrkilr223 on December 18, 2011, 02:49:01 PM
I was just wondering if anyone uses the scent killer spray you spray yourself down with for hunting at your trap sets? By that I mean do you ever spray down the trap before bedding, the set or the area once you are done? If this stuff can help you attempt to beat a deers nose, wouldn't it work for canines too? I would still say wearing rubber gloves an everything else is still needed, but could this be another added precaution? Nobody I know has ever done this and a few said it was a bad idea so that's why I'm askin. Any thoughts?

I tried it once.  Ended up with dug up traps.  I wouldnt worry that much about scent.  Just be as clean as possable.  If you are trappin yotes or fox they are going to smell you no matter what you do.

Its more important to bed a trap well than to be "scent free".
